We use MODES to power our online database, which has all our collections and almost 15k images. The MUA added the code for Google shopping cart to every item with an image that is on the database - see
http://www.wiltshireheritagecollections.org.uk/index.asp?page=image&id=41303
for an example.

We get a very small number of orders. We then dig out the high res version on the server and print it out. We also need to check that nothing that has been ordered is in copyright.

But, as Tesco puts it, every little helps ...

Subject: Selling image licences

We are starting to explore how we might make money from images of our
collection items - images of works of art, archival photos and physical
objects and I was wondering if anybody would be prepared to share on or
off list how they do this and what sort of income they manage to
generate.

Also interested in prints on demand that could be seamlessly linked to
our online collections website www.blackcountryhistory.org
<http://www.blackcountryhistory.org> so that users could order low cost
prints of items they find but we have no money for development work.
