Dear Gem list
This year's AHI conference is set to be a great experience for anyone interested in interpretation.

Association for Heritage Interpretation:  Annual Conference 2011, York

Interpretation: a survival guide

Wednesday 19 to Friday 21 October 2011

Feeling daunted by shrinking budgets, cost sensitive audiences and increasing competition?  If so, join us in York to discover how to thrive in challenging times.  The programme features well-known heritage sector speakers and inspiring visits to leading attractions.  Places are limited so book today – and take advantage of our Early Bird discount too!

Inspiring site visits and expert speakers

Our programme includes an exciting range of speakers including John Veverka, one of the world’s best known interpretive professionals, as well as knowledgeable consultants Anne Fletcher and Kate Measures and local experts Vicky Harrison (York Minster) and Sarah Maltby (JorviK).

We’ll be finding out how to make small budgets go a long way by visiting historic York Minster, and heading into the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside to Ryedale Folk Museum and stunning Castle Howard.  We’ll also be taking a virtual tour of historic York with John Oxley, the city’s leading heritage expert, and you can sign up for our pre-conference workshop on developing audio based interpretation projects on a budget with Dan Boys, interpretive audio and app expert.

Conferencing in comfort

We will be based just north of York at Burn Hall, Huby, which offers a high standard of accommodation in a relaxed countryside setting on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

Step into the spotlight

Want to share your survival tips and tricks?  As usual, the programme includes opportunities for you, our delegates, to contribute.  If you’d like to be involved, send us your proposal for a ten minute paper to [log in to unmask] or bring along a survival story for our ‘Great Examples’ noticeboard!

See you there!

We look forward to seeing you in York in October.  Places are limited so book today to take advantage of our Early Bird booking discount.
