Dear all,

I'd like to use left and right Broca's areas of Jülich histological to calculate an asymmetry index, but I want to use a method where definitely important, that the two ROIs should be symmetrical. I've seen that the Broca's areas from Jülich histological atlas included in FSL are not totally symmetrical. Is it possible to get symmetrical ROIs based on these atlas? For example, is it OK if I mask the right Broca with the flipped left Broca, and the left Broca with the flipped right Broca to get symmetrical Broca's areas? Or just simple flip one of the ROIs to get the contralateral ROI? I don't know wheter MNI152 is "symmetric enough" to use such solutions. Does anybody has any suggestion how to generate symmetrical Broca's areas in FSL with identical size and shape which are reasonable to calculate laterality index???

Thanks a lot,
Gábor
