Mediterranean Editors and Translators

Mediterranean Editors and Translators (MET) meeting 2011

Quality in English translation and editing –
from research to practice and back

20-22 October 2011
European Institute of the Mediterranean
Carrer Gerona 20, Barcelona, Spain

The METM11 program is almost complete as posted on our website. One of the threads this year will focus on research and its practical implications for language service providers. Other topics will include computer-assisted translation tools, advice about starting out in specialist areas, an introduction to social media for language professionals, translation editing and revision, and much more. The plenary speakers – Dorothy Kenny and Ros Schwartz – will look at revision from two different perspectives. The abstracts are posted on the program page of our website.

We are continuing to accept proposals for poster presentations. For details please visit the call for participation.

You’re still in time to take advantage of the reduced early registration fee (deadline: 12 September). For details about registration see the registration page.

Barcelona is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with much to offer. Information about travel and hotels can be found at Local information.

Mediterranean Editors and Translators (MET) is an association of language service providers and a forum for translators and editors who work mainly into or with English. Through MET we exchange views and experiences on promising practices and keep up with relevant research. What unites us is a belief in peer-generated continuing professional development, consistent with practice in the disciplines we started from and in the knowledge societies we serve.
