Subject: We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join a new research Centre focusing on the use of digital technologies to support young people with a range of specific learning difficulties.

Dear All,

Please pass this on to colleagues who might be interested in this exciting new role at Oxford.

Research Officer
Kellogg College and Oxford University Department of Education
Salary £29,099 – £35,788 per annum

We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join a new research Centre focusing on the use of digital technologies to support young people with a range of specific learning difficulties.  The Centre, and the work of the research officer, will be based both within Kellogg College, and in the Department of Education as part of the Learning and New Technologies Research Group.

The post is for two years in the first instance, and the postholder will play a leading role in helping to develop the Centre, reporting to its Director, Dr. Chris Davies.  Initially, this will involve the preparation of a comprehensive review of research within the broad field of specific learning difficulties and assistive technologies, together with conducting fieldwork into specific projects in this area, and the preparation of research grant applications to enable subsequent projects within the Centre.  Responsibilities will include small scale project management, organization of dissemination events, collaboration in the preparation of research publications, and the presentation of papers at conferences.

The person appointed should be experienced in a range of research methods, both quantitative and qualitative.  Of primary importance is expertise in issues of learning difficulties and SEN, and experience of these issues in relation to assistive technologies would also be of considerable relevance to the post.

We aim for this post to start on 1st September 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter.  This post is designated University Grade 7, and is intended for applicants who have successfully completed doctoral study, or the equivalent.

See http://www.kellogg.ox.ac.uk/news/vacancies.php for more information.
