Dear colleagues,

Some months ago, I gave you a short orientation of our volunteer
internet-based mentor programme for Ph.D. students in statistics and
probability at universities in developing countries. The programme is
sponsored by the International Statistical Institute and the Bernoulli
Society.

This program is carrying on, and after having announced this opportunity
directly to African universities recently, we have received several new
applications for mentoring from African Ph.D. students the last days.

We therefore need more senior statisticians as volunteer mentors.
Because we match the mentor and the student according to competence and
needs, we need a rather large pool of mentors to being able find a
well-fitting mentor when we get new applications from Ph.D. students.

More details are found at the web-page of the programme at
http://statmentoring.nr.no .
