Dear colleagues,

Please note that the closing date for the HESA Staff record consultation is this Friday. The proposals include additional fields to reflect an extension of the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 beyond race, disability and gender, and so the thoughts of practitioners as to the appropriate fields etc will be of great value to HESA in designing the staff record.

The consultation in full can be found here: www.hesa.ac.uk/circulars/staff/11/01. This includes links to  the online response form to HESA.

For information, please note that the consultation proposals, which were provided by ECU, recommend the current disability categories as per the staff record. However, in ECUs formal response to the HESA consultation, we have recommended moving towards the fields used in the student record (see http://www.hesa.ac.uk/index.php/component/option,com_studrec/task,show_file/Itemid,233/mnl,10051/href,a%5E_%5EDISABLE.html/ ). Again, the opinions of practitioners as to whether the disability field options in the staff record should continue as they are, move towards the fields in the student record, or a different option, will be of value to HESA in designing the new staff record.

With the very best of wishes

Chris
