Dear David,

Now I feel like I am dancing with the Stars - or am I merely dancing and seeing stars?

cheers

Dear Keith, Don, Ken, and all,

To use Keith's metaphor below:

> the beat to which I am dancing.

I think we are all in step.

In my younger days I was a pretty good dancer (with my body), but lately, I think I have acquired two left feet. By contrast, as a young researcher, I began with two left feet (in my thinking), as it were. I think I have improved since then and sometimes can be almost ambipedal!

But the problem, as you rightly point out Keith, is not with us but:
> that many of the normal clinical/workshop activities are
> novel for many design folks aiming to get recognition for doing
> research. The novelty of these activities can delude one into thinking
> research is being done when all one is doing is what a researcher does
> in their clinical/workshop normal activity.

This is where the term design research is misleading. It misleads young researchers and in some cases has led to people getting phd's for demonstrating their capacity to do 'clinical/workshop' activity.

David
