Hi all,
It may be all well and good for a newly qualified RN to have the academic ability to enter onto a SCPHN course and pass their theoretical component with flying
colours but I would be reluctant about accepting one onto my unit as a specialist nurse upon completion.
The 2 years post-registration experience especially from a variety of settings helps consolidate so much knowledge about anatomy/ physiology, disease processes,
communication and observation skills and so on that would potentially be lost. If NMC were really advocating direct entry onto specialist courses post registration they may as well just redesign the pre-registration courses so that newly qualified nurses
were SCPHN registered immediately.

Has any one else read this? I am not sure if I am interpretting correctly, but is this saying that newly qualified nurses can start on the SCPHN programme, regardless of specific
pathway?
What about post registrattion experience?
