Dear All,
Thanks to all for the many responses to my earlier email about Dell both on the list and privately. I feel better… it’s not just me!
The general consensus is that the service from Dell is pretty bad:
· Small orders are ignored or come back incorrect.
· Account managers are changed frequently.
· Requests for quotes for larger orders seem to have a greater chance of being sorted more quickly and more accurately.
But…
· The hardware seems to be thought of as being good.
· The technical support seems to be thought of as being good.
Value for money? Not sure about that one, but from my experience the cost, when I can get a quote, does seem to be very competitive.
Trouble is are there any viable alternatives to Dell? I suspect HP is much the same, but what about smaller UK manufacturers? Viglen for instance?
I’m not a big purchaser but I still want to be able to pick up the phone or send an email and get an accurate quote/response in a reasonable amount of time, without all the additional hassle/hoops I have to go through with Dell.
Many thanks.
Mark
