Hello all –

I just wanted to know whether anyone out there had location/costume hire policies & paperwork which could be applied to students? We have a policy, contract and standard set of fees in place to deal with professional production companies but recently we have been inundated with students from local colleges who want to use our building as a film location – and borrow costumes from our dressing up to wear in their productions.

In the past, we have always allowed them to use the space for free, provided they only used it for a limited period and within normal opening hours. However, it is now starting to get a bit silly. We’ve had them turn up at 8am, attempt to close down one of our rooms for almost two days, turn up randomly asking to borrow costume for events in other places, etc.

We think we would like to make a nominal charge as we now getting large numbers of bookings – but we’re unsure what constitutes a reasonable fee for the education sector – and we’d also like to draft a contract for them to sign (and stick to) as it’s good practice for the real world (but as we won’t be giving the same benefits as a fully paid hire, we’re not sure how strict we should make this).

Any advice, help or paperwork gratefully appreciated!
