With apologies for cross-posting:
Dear colleagues,

Regisration for the 2011 annual conference of the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France (ASMCF) closes on 1st July 2011. The conference will take place at Stirling University from 1-3 September 2011 and has a strong interdisciplinary focus. Under the broad conference theme 'Continuities and Discontinuities: France Across the Generations', there will be panels on topics including the following:

 - Families onscreen
 - Representing the city
 - Youth culture and politics
 - Filming across the generations
 - Women in politics
 - France's policy in Africa
 - Regional geographies and politics
 - Reflections on popular music
 - Socialist legacies
 - Juridico-legal affairs
 - Memories, amnesia and trauma
 - Shifting images of Algeria
 - Afterlives of May '68

Given the wide range of papers, we hope that many colleagues will be interested in attending. For details of the full programme, and to register, visit the ASMCF website at http://www.asmcf.org/ or contact the conference organisers, Dr Fiona Barclay ([log in to unmask]) and Dr Cristina Johnston ([log in to unmask]).

Best wishes
Cristina and Fiona
