It seems that whatever is considered obsolete in the sciences, is the very current and dogmatic paradigm in the humanities. Viz Freud and Psa. So one might assume that the humanities, this precarious niche market, almost like esoterics, like paranormal phenomena, is hooked on what used to be considered scientific - and is defended by the humanities with the most positivist scientistic rigour - has been far left behind by the natural and life sciences, which have given up on describing the matter of affairs, but have concentrated on precisely creating it.
