Hi,

I totally agree with you Matthias. I will read this report and will
discuss it later. By the way, I am a fan of numbers and census...this is
the only way to estimate the real prevalence of disability and to have a
good portrait of the their participation in society, identify the major
barriers with the intention to reduce them and follow their evolution
through time.

Dear Larry, dear all

I hope to see in the weeks to come a more thorough discussion of the
content of the report once some of us had the chance to read it.

One thing I would like to precise regarding Larry's comment is that
it's a report written by the World Bank and the WHO and it was written
by many researchers. It was reviewed by members of International DPOs as
well. I don't say that this makes it better or worse, just wanted to
precise that.

Personally I'm not a fan of numbers and census, etc. and I agree with
your comments, Larry. But there is more in the report than numbers, so
let's have a look at the other chapters as well.

FORM OF DISABILITY, LANDMARK UN REPORT FINDS

Yet still the failure to recognise that this number is entirely
contingent upon what one means by "disability" as this still bears scant
relation to any reality concerning the different impact of any
impairment according to different social conditions, norms, and
economics. You would think the UN would recognise that wouldn't you?.
But Oh NO! They are not a research organisation, they are not even a
rational organisation, no they are a bunch of power brokers driven
predominantly by a westernised elite, if ever there were a land where
the pigs walk on two legs, the UN Eutrophia is it.
