Westminster Adult Education Service, a service of Westminster City Council, is one of the largest local authority providers of adult and community learning in London.  The Service offers a large and diverse programme of further education courses alongside extensive community based provision.  The Service’s annual budget is approx £10 million.  It has a diverse, committed student population, a well qualified, dedicated staff and facilities at strategic locations throughout Westminster.

The Additional Learning Support Service consists of a small, well established team providing high quality support for learners with a wide range of disabilities, learning difficulties and medical conditions across the whole range of college courses.  We are looking for well qualified, experienced staff with a person centred approach and a strong commitment to meeting learners’ support needs in an adult education setting.

Learning Support Lecturer (1 year fixed contract initially)

Salary: £27,945 - £30,345 (including London Weighting)


The Job:  You will have significant experience of identifying and assessing learners’ support needs and teaching literacy, language and study skills to learners with a range of disabilities/ medical conditions.  You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team promoting an inclusive environment across the college. You must have a degree, teaching qualification and a level 4 qualification in teaching literacy or language.


Support Assistants /note takers (Pool) Variable hours from 6 to 10 weekly

The Job:  The Service is developing a pool of hourly paid support assistants to provide classroom support to learners with disabilities on mainstream courses i.e. sensory impairment, learning disability or physical disability.  We are looking for energetic individuals with positive attitudes, and very good interpersonal and written communication skills.

The Service will be expecting people to work flexibly and on a demand basis between 6-10 hours a week. May suit recent graduates wishing to pursue a career in education or social work.
