LONDON - CITY OF PARADOX

 

Call for papers

 

Dear Colleague,

 

In 2012 the world's media will focus on London as host city of the Olympic Games, providing an opportunity for the British government and other interest groups to celebrate the city as an economic hub and as a centre of global cultural activity.

We wish to address these issues and to explore other perspectives on the city and its histories, its cultural heritage and its contradictory role within global networks. Please join us at an international conference – London, City of Paradox – to take place at the University of East London from 3 - 5 April 2012.

The conference will provide a forum for discussion among academics, community activists, artists and others, encouraging the development of informed, critical perspectives on London past and present. Please see the Call for Papers attached: please circulate to all who may be interested.
