David Clover, Institute of Commonwealth Studies Librarian and Senior
Academic Liaison Librarian at Senate House Library, was one of two
successful applicants to the 2010 English Speaking Union/CILIP
Travelling Librarian Award visiting research libraries with strong
Caribbean Studies collections in Florida, North Carolina, Illinois and
New York. He is actively involved in subject groups for Africa, the
Caribbean, Canada and Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

David will talk briefly about the ESU/CILIP Travelling Librarian Award
and how the scheme works. He will discuss some of the highlights of his
trip to the US, which focused on provision for Caribbean Studies,
including digitisation and collaborative collection development. He
will look in particular at partnerships between US and Caribbean
libraries with the Digital Library of the Caribbean as an example of
one collaboration, discussing the project and how working on a
collaborative digitisation project led to relationships that were
further developed after the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
