What about the triglycerides level? Ali -----Original Message----- From: Clinical biochemistry discussion list [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Robert Lord Sent: 24 June 2011 14:32 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: SUSPECT: Possibly need to measure statin in blood? Comments / advice appreciated - Have been seeing a 29 year old male for the past 21 yrs for FH. Chol = 11 off treatment Was on rosuvastatin 30mg in 2005, Chol = 4.0. Discharged. Re-referred 2010 due to chol increasing to 6.1 on rosuvastatin 40mg / ezetimibe 10mg. Tried simvastatin 80 mg and also atorvastatin 80mg since then. Can't get chol < 7. Niaspan doesn't work. Assures me he is compliant with medication - confirmed by mother in clinic today! No other medication - no OTC meds or drugs of abuse Diet = ok. No weight loss. No evidence of malabsorption U+E/LFT/Glucose/TFT/FBC = normal. Any ideas? Should I measure the statin level in his blood to check compliance - can this be done? Check for malabsorption even though clinically unlikely? Anything else!? Many thanks Rob ------ACB discussion List Information-------- This is an open discussion list for the academic and clinical community working in clinical biochemistry.
