MSc in Experimental Therapeutics

This two-year, part-time Programme is delivered in collaboration with the Section of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Oxford. It is taught by leading clinicians and scientists through intensive sessions in Oxford and an online virtual learning environment.

The Programme is modular and has been designed to suit busy health professionals, including clinicians, and health and pharmaceutical professionals from the UK and overseas. It provides world-class training in the principles underpinning clinical research and the skills to translate these into high-quality clinical and research practice. The MSc in Experimental Therapeutics consists of eight taught modules and a dissertation. The modules each feature one week of intensive teaching and can also be taken as short courses. Some of the modules provide students with the necessary knowledge for qualifications from the Royal Society of Medicine’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine.

- Biological Therapeutics

- How to do Research on Therapeutic Interventions: Protocol Preparation

- Rational Prescribing

- Structural Genomics and Drug Discovery

- Pharmacodynamics, Biomarkers and Personalised Therapy

- Drug Therapy: Pharmacokinetics

- The Principles of Cancer Chemotherapy

- The Structure of Clinical Trials and Experimental Therapeutics

- A selection of modules related to Evidence-Based Health Care
