‘Young People's Identities' Day Conference 4th July 2011

Sponsored by the Geographies of Children, Youth and Families Research Group of the Royal Geographical Society

 

Young people's identities are the focus of research from a range of disciplinary perspectives. The aim of this day conference is to enable opportunities to discuss different theoretical and methodological perspectives related to young people's lives and identities. We welcome short papers of 20 minutes and there will be time in the schedule for workshop discussion and networking with colleagues.

 

The plenary speaker, Dr Nicola Ansell based at the Centre for Human Geography, Brunel University, will be speaking about her recent research: 'Relationality and materiality in the making of identity: diverse uses and experiences of marriage among young rural southern Africans'

 

A new book, 'Childhood and Migration in Europe: Portraits of Mobility, Identity and Belonging in Contemporary Ireland' by Caítriona Ní Laoire, Fina Carpena-Mendez, Naomi Tyrrell and Allen White, will be launched at the conference.

Conference fee: £16 (including a light lunch and refreshments)

 

Please note that numbers are limited and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
