I thought they wore a disposable visor, which pulled down over their existing prescription spectacles

A word from a Safety Officer…

I work in veterinary research, we have staff undertaking animal post mortems so, in many way not too dissimilar.

Where our risk assessment shows the need for eye protection, which for PM’s it does, we would provide suitable prescription eyewear, usually through the Specsavers voucher scheme.

So, while many safety officers can legitimately be accused of going over the top, this one seems (on limited information) to have been unhelpful, not inaccurate.

If you want more info, contact me off list. Quite happy to chat by phone as well which could clear this up in a few minutes.

Kind regards,

Richard.

Is it just me or is the H&S officer taking the idea of risk assessment to extremes in this case?

Please can anyone enlighten me...

A surgeon called me to ask about provision of prescription eye protection.  I've spoken to our H&S officer who said to ask the theatre manager whether a risk assessment has been undertaken and whether this has been taken into account.

Has anyone got any idea as to what surgeons who wear prescription glasses have to be provided with...?  What does everyone else do...?

S :-)
