hi
Help!!
I have someone i am seeing who is a folklift driver, he has dual problems of anxiety and alcohol misuse. the alcohol misuse has been since March 2010. So far he is under the care of his GP, PIER team and CBT. His intake is about 1/4 -1/2 of a abottle of spirits around four days a week. His GP is hoping for him to reduce the intake of his alcohol and then other treatments for his anxiety could be viable. He is now trying to reduce the intake of the alcohol and the CBT has been postponed so he can focus on reducing the alcohol. I have also received a letter from the alcohol team who just mentioned that he is trying to reduce the alcohol but not making much progress at the moment. He is finding it hard to get out and about and he is relying on his wife to leave the house. When i have spoken to him over the phone he reports low mood and feeling increasingly stuck but does want to return to work. Q 1 HR are obviously concerned about him return to work being he is an FLT what would happen as he has to be alcohol free for 12months. ? when is he likely to return bearing in mind he is struggling to get out of the house. Legally where does he stand, he might not be covered by the EA for the alcohol but his other problems are. not sure how to tackle this one without getting myself in hot water. he has not been seen face to face for a while. Thanx
