Collections Outreach Research and Pilot Scheme - Consultation Opportunity

 

Torfaen County Borough Council in partnership with Torfaen Museum Trust are seeking a consultant to undertake a Torfaen Borough collections outreach assessment and pilot touring exhibition.

 

The aim of the commission is to research the collections held at the Museum Trust and identify objects suitable for display at alternative community and heritage locations throughout the Borough, both through touring exhibitions and through more long term display.

 

The consultation will include an assessment of the collections held by the Trust including research into the most appropriate local historical themes for collection outreach and an assessment of collection items, their significance and suitability for outreach.

 

An appraisal of the potential venues / locations which could display the identified collection items should then be undertaken. The development and implementation of a small, touring pilot display to evaluate the potential for more long term displays will be part of this process.

 

An assessment of the display conditions and equipment required (e.g space / cases conservation requirements / environmental control / monitoring) for the longer term displays will be a requirement of the commission.
