Commemorating one of Arthur's favoured feasts, Ascension Day (June 2nd) and taking as its venue Glasgow's splendid Burrell Collection, this 'round table' brings together a group of internationally renowned scholars to explore how the medieval literary genre of romance reflects the place of aesthetics in court cultures, whether in terms of material and literary production, as well as in social performance of all kinds, from food to fashion, from combat to conversation. The programme consists of a mix of speaker presentations followed by a guided tour of the collection focusing on relevant artefacts.
