The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture

Intellect is pleased to announce the publication of The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture, a peer-reviewed journal with an international focus. The journal is devoted to the scholarly understanding of the social practices and cultural meanings that are produced and circulated through the processes and interactions of everyday life.

The journal publishes articles, essays, notes, and reviews on broad comparative and theoretical popular culture issues. Some of the key areas include comics and graphic novels, fashion, film, food, philosophy and popular culture, television, and popular fiction. The journal offers a global perspective of popular culture, especially if filtered through an Australasian lens.

The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture is the official journal of the Popular Culture Association of Australia and New Zealand, which is a regional branch of the PCA.

Issue 1 includes articles discussing the debates in academic and popular history, the relationship between chocolate and ethics, the far-reaching effect of the vinyl catsuit worn by The Avengers’ Emma Peel and the treatment of ethnic, cultural and geographic ‘Others’ in Hergé’s The Adventures of Tintin.
