Renaissance Studies is one of the leading journals in the field of Renaissance studies, with an interdisciplinary emphasis, and a worldwide readership. Established in 1987, Renaissance Studies is published in partnership by the Society for Renaissance Studies and Wiley- Blackwell Publishing Ltd.



The Council of the Society for Renaissance Studies (SRS) is to appoint an Editor for Renaissance Studies to succeed Professor Andrew Hadfield, who retires as Editor in December 2011.



It is hoped that the new editor(s) will be able to take over responsibility from 1 January 2012 and serve for a 5-year term until 21 December 2017.

Interviews will be held in London or Oxford (tba) in July.



The Editor is responsible for the editorial content of the journal, for obtaining peer reviews of articles submitted, and for the supply of edited copy to Wiley- Blackwell Publishing. The Editor works with, and leads, a team consisting of an Assistant Editor (whose main responsibility rests with the Special Issues of the journal), Book Reviews Editor(s), and two Exhibition Reviews Editors. The Editor also works closely with the team at Wiley- Blackwell, led by the Senior Journals Commissioning Editor. The Editor reports regularly to the Council of the Society, which oversees the financial management of the journal in conjunction with Wiley-Blackwell.



The Editor will be an established authority in his/her field and will be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of one or more of the major disciplines,  history, philosophy, literature, art. Competence with modern electronic media is a requirement, and experience in editing and publishing a journal will be welcome.

This prestigious position is remunerated with a small honorarium.

Expressions of interest are invited, in the form of a letter with a current curriculum vitae. One referee should be named.
