About Islandora Camp

Come learn, work, and play at this year’s Islandora camp. Held between July 20-22, the second Islandora camp provides introductory and intermediate sessions conducted by the Islandora specialists. In the morning, sessions will be held for special Islandora topics. Beginners can learn the basics of building and configuring collections in Islandora and seasoned developers can participate in advanced sessions. In the afternoon, folks will have the opportunity either to work on the development of a collection in Islandora (from data they bring with them or can access remotely) or to work on an Islandora challenge. Throughout the camp, Islandora developers and librarians will be available to help you learn to customize Drupal at your home institution.  You will also have the opportunity to learn about our roadmap and become a part of the project. As part of the camp's 'unconference' atmosphere, sessions and the structure of the day will be partly chosen by you.

*Call For Presentations* - Deadline: June 15, 2011 - Doing something interesting with Islandora? Come and tell us about it.  Send a 500 word synopsis of your work with Islandora. If your presentation is selected, you will receive free registration and a travel bursary to help you attend. Spots are limited, so apply soon!

*Call for Scholarships* - Deadline: June 15, 2011- This year, Islandora is pleased to announce the limited availability of bursaries to cover the $250.00 registration cost for Islandora Camp. We welcome applications from interested students and 2010 graduates. Please send a one-page letter telling us why you want to come and what you hope to learn by attending Islandora Camp.

*Call for Volunteers* - Deadline: July 15, 2011 - Islandora Camp is seeking enthusiastic and responsible volunteers! We are looking for people to handle tasks like: work the registration table, event set up and tear down, run errands, and other duties as they arise. Commit as much time as you would like and attend the rest.  Interested volunteers should send a brief letter detailing their skills, what they are interested in contributing, how many hours they’d like to work, and their availability.
