Apologies for cross posting

Dear Colleagues,

I am doing some work for a University that has medical and nursing courses. The University does not allow 'coversheets' or yellow stickers to identify the coursework or exam scripts of students with SpLDs who are doing these courses, although they are allowed for such students on all other courses. The rationale (I think) is that these students need to be able to write legible, clear, properly spelled, well phrased notes in their professional practice.

If you have medical/ nursing courses in your institutions do you permit coversheets/ yellow stickers for students with SpLDs for a) course work, and b) for exam scripts?

If you don't allow it, can you tell me the rationale for not doing so and if possible tell me of any directive from the professional bodies that is relevant?

There is also some suggestion that computers are not allowed/ encouraged for those students with SpLDs who have hand writing difficulties (speed, legibility) in exams. This, I think, is for a similar reason to the coversheet argument. Does this apply in your institution and can you cite the rationale?

Many thanks in advance for any replies and I am happy to collate the answers and post them to the list.

Kind regards,

Caroline
