PGWIP is the national seminar for postgraduate students in classical
studies. We provide a friendly environment in which speakers are able to
talk about their research, take part in stimulating discussion of their
paper, and extend their social and academic network. Speakers give a paper
of about 45 minutes duration dealing with any subject connected with the
ancient world (broadly defined), the reception of antiquity, or classical
scholarship. They have the opportunity to receive questions from an
audience of postgraduate students and to continue the discussion over wine
and nibbles.

In 2010/11 PGWIP hosted twenty-seven speakers, drawn from Gonville and
Caius College, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Kent, King's College
London departments of Classics, Digital Humanities, and History,
Liverpool, Brasenose, Corpus Christi, Exeter, Keble, St John's, The
Queen's, and University Colleges, Oxford, Princeton, Royal Holloway
University of London, Siena, St Andrews, The Sorbonne, and University
College London departments of Greek and Latin and History.

The joint chairs for 2011/12 will be Gillian Granville Bentley (KCL), Jess
Lloyd (Roehampton), Beth Rowell (UCL), and Gabrielle Villais (UCL).

A call for papers will be distributed to departmental contacts in due
course, but you are also invited to join our mailing list by sending a
message to [log in to unmask], and you will receive the call for
papers as well as further information about PGWIP 2011/12.

You are also invited to join the Facebook group Institute of Classical
Studies and to follow us on Twitter @pgwip. The joint chairs for 2011/12
will be using the email address [log in to unmask]

Yours sincerely
