*JOB DESCRIPTION*** * * *POST TITLE:* Research Fellow * * *DEPARTMENT:* History * * *POST RESPONSIBLE TO:* Project Director and Head of Department * * *SALARY:* £27,428 - £35,788 pa * * *REFERENCE NUMBER:* 71111-041 * * *CLOSING DATE: * 23 May 2011 *JOB** PURPOSE:* You will serve as a researcher on the Leverhulme Trust-funded project ‘The East India Company at Home, 1757-1857’, led by Professor Margot Finn of the Warwick History Department. The project runs for 3 years, and a full-time postdoctoral researcher is sought for 3 years beginning September 2011. You will conduct independent and collaborative historical and interdisciplinary research in archives and libraries in the UK, along lines previously agreed with Professor Margot Finn and the project’s named Research Fellow (Dr Helen Clifford); to investigate the intertwined histories of persons, objects and homes within national and colonial contexts; to assist the named Research Fellow in designing and populating the project’s web-based resources and database; to advance public outreach activities central to the project. The nature of the materials to be examined will be determined through discussion with Professor Finn and Dr Clifford. You will write two high-calibre research articles for publication in peer-reviewed scholarly journals as well as several accessible case studies based on his/her research and that of community-based historians.
