Archivist - Archives, Discovery Museum
£26,276 - £29,236 per annum - 37 hours per week. Fixed term for 15 months
The post is part of the Archives team, at the Discovery Museum, and duties include undertaking professional activities relating to the preservation of archives and their use by the public. You will assist in the location, surveying and collection of records and archives from both official and private sources in line with the archives service’s Collection Policy. You will be involved in accessioning, cataloguing, indexing and otherwise referencing records and archives held by the service to ensure both effective control and ease of access to information contained in them. Ensuring the needs of members of the public consulting the archives either in person or remotely, owners, donors, depositors and other interested parties are effectively and appropriately met will be essential in the role.
You will hold a post-graduate qualification in archives and have knowledge of local and family history and sources. You must have effective written and oral communication skills, good ICT skills and a keen attention to detail. As well as experience of carrying out and organising research, you will have experience of archive arrangement and cataloguing and customer service. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
