The University of Aberdeen currently has vacancies for two permanent full-time conservator positions.

 

SENIOR CONSERVATOR (Grade 6, £29,972 - £35,788) Ref 1187421

The University of Aberdeen is about to complete the construction of a new University Library, Special Collections Centre and Conservation Centre. The Glucksman Conservation Centre will be a state-of-art facility for the conservation of the University’s extensive collections of rare books, manuscripts and archives. The Centre requires an experienced Senior Conservator to lead and direct a team which will include a Paper Conservator and Book Conservator. The postholder will provide strategic direction and leadership in establishing and implementing a long-term conservation management programme for the University’s paper-based collections. The postholder will also contribute to the outreach, learning and exhibition programme in the new Library.

MUSEUM CONSERVATOR (Grade 5 £25,101 - £28,251) Ref 1182998

University Museums require an experienced Conservator to develop and manage an efficient and effective conservation service and to help formulate and deliver programmes of collections care. You will help assess needs and develop conservation programmes in collaboration with colleagues in the University and other stakeholders. You will have a good degree in a relevant subject, be an Accredited Conservator and have practical experience of working with relevant collections. You will have excellent inter-personal, communication, organisational and ICT skills.
