Please see below for details of the upcoming RSS seminar of the Lancashire and East Cumbria local group Best wishes Matt Date: Thu 19 May 2011 Time: 16.00 - 17.00 Venue: BB105, Brook Building, UCLan (University of Central Lancashire, Preston) Dr Chris Roberts "The Analysis of Non-Pharmacological Treatment Trials with Partial Nesting and Multiple Therapists per Patient." Abstract In trials of physical and talking therapies nesting of patients within care-provider can have design and analysis implications analogous to cluster randomized trials. There can nevertheless be additional complexity due to heterogeneity in the pattern of clustering including partial nesting. In some trials, a patient may receive a therapy from multiple care-providers, so that the data structure is no longer strictly hierarchical. This talk will consider methods of analysis of trials with partial nesting and multiple-membership due to therapist or therapy group. Methods and issues will be illustrated by data from trials of therapies for musculoskeletal and psychological disorders. Sample size and power for trials with multiple membership due to therapist or group will also be considered. ===== Refreshments will be served from 15.30. All are welcome to attend. Campus and local map can be downloaded from http://www.uclan.ac.uk/information/uclan/how_to_find_us/files/uclan-2d-m ap-2009.pdf.
