Is it time to
re-think positive discrimination?
Speaker:
Mike Noon: Professor of Human Resource Management at the School of Business and
Management, Queen Mary University of London
Hosted by the Ethnic
Diversity at Work Group
(Sponsored by the
Division of Occupational Psychology)
&
Department of
Organizational Psychology, Birkbeck, University of London
This seminar invites
you leave your prejudices at the door and think again about positive
discrimination. It answers the charges levelled at the concept by critics. It
explores the varied meanings of the concept and resultant forms that positive
discrimination can take. It challenges you to consider whether some of these
might be applicable and valuable to contemporary organisations. It explores how
such approaches might be related to ‘business case’ and
‘social justice’ rationales for equality, diversity and inclusion.
