Hi Kitty - I asked Ben to have a look at
insect and it is a fungus beetle - so they will be eating something.
Below is the information from our pest identification sheets:
Not a major pest, but an indicator.
The adults and larvae both feed on mould and mildew, so a significant number
implies both damp conditions and fungal infection of either the building or the
objects. If found consistently on objects such as paper or textiles, then the
material is probably in the early stages of being damaged by fungal growth,
even if mould is not easily visible.

Identification
Dear
all,
I
was hoping that someone on the list may be able to help us with a pest
identification. During our insect monitoring checks we keep getting these
small bronze coloured beetles, they are generally small (about 2mm length) and
do not appear to be causing any damage. It is a mystery as they are in a
number of our stores in different areas of the Museum site and appear on a
regular basis.
Any
help would be greatly appreciated to solve this beastly mystery!
