The British Council is a world leader in cultural relations, building long-term relationships and trust between people in the UK and other countries, for mutual benefit.  It operates in 110 countries through a wide range of programmes in English, education and society, and the arts.

 

The Records and Archives team at the British Council is responsible for setting policy and standards, and providing advice on the management of the organisation’s records and archives, managing the British Council’s relationship with The National Archives and ensuring compliance with the British Council’s statutory responsibilities for document retention and archives management.  A key challenge within the next 1-2 years will be planning and supporting the implementation of an electronic document and records management system (EDRMS).

 

The British Council is currently recruiting for the following three roles:

 

Records Reviewer – 2 year fixed-term contract, salary band £28,300 - £30,799

 

Archives Manager – permanent role, salary band £28,300 - £30,799

 

Head of Records and Archives – permanent role, salary band £50,300 – £58,299

 

Occasional travel to Manchester and possibly overseas will be required as well as regular travel to The National Archives in Kew. The successful candidate should be willing to undergo security clearance.
