Subject: Appointment of 2 new Editors

Dear All

I am delighted to announce that Christine East and Tina Lavender, Associate Editors with the Group since November 2009, have been appointed as Editors of the Pregnancy and Childbirth Group.

Chris is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and is an experienced clinical researcher. Chris's research interests include a variety of methods used to evaluate fetal well-being during pregnancy and labour; these projects range from fetal movement detection, specialised fetal ECG, through to fetal pulse oximetry and fetal lactate measurement during labour. Her research into the genetic susceptibility to pre-eclampsia has extended to surveys of women's perceptions following their experiences with this challenging condition. Chris’s future research plans include the use of cooling therapies for perineal pain relief following childbirth and investigation of factors surrounding stillbirth. Chris co-authored her first Cochrane protocol in 2004. She is currently the contact person for four Cochrane reviews and a co-author on another four.

Tina Lavender is Professor of Midwifery at the University of Manchester, UK, where she leads a programme of work on Midwifery and Women's health. Tina has led several randomised controlled trials and a number of nested qualitative studies. Tina is Co-Editor in Chief of the British Journal of Midwifery, Associate Editor of the African Journal of Midwifery and an editorial board member of the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Tina co-authored her first Cochrane protocol in 1998 and is currently the contact person for four Cochrane reviews and a co-author on another three.

Best wishes
Sonja
