Dear Colleagues,

cpd25 is delighted to announce that it is running the above event on the afternoon of Monday, 23rd May from 1.30pm to 4.30pm [this event had been due to run on 22nd March but due to industrial action it had to be postponed].

With long opening hours, working patterns for library staff have always tended to be different from the standard idea of a working week. Academic libraries see peaks and troughs in workload. This event looks at some of the working practices that are not the usual 9-5 and its impact on staff and services.

Annualised Hours: Elizabeth Malone, Kingston University
Elizabeth researched and implemented the Annualised Hours Scheme that has been running at Kingston University Library since May 2005. Although no longer working directly with the scheme, Elizabeth recently carried out a review of the scheme's success.

Working with the mix: Caroline Lloyd, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Caroline looks at the practical side of managing a job share and the mixture of part time and full time hours.

Job sharing & making it work: Caroline Fletcher, UCL Bartlett Built Environment Library
Caroline has worked as part of a job share in 3 different posts and looks at the benefits of job sharing for staff and service and how to make sure it all works smoothly.
