Dear GEM members, After a number of appeals of clemency due to the number of bank holidays we're about to embark on, I'm able to confirm that the new deadline for applications to the Marsh Trust/British Museum volunteer awards is now FRIDAY 13TH MAY! All the rest of the details remain the same, as below All best wishes Susan I'm delighted to be able to let you know that applications for this year's British Museum / Marsh Trust Volunteers for Museum Learning Award are now open. The award is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the work and achievements of our volunteers (and the prizes are pretty good too!) and I hope that as many of you as possible will apply. There will be winners from each region in the UK, who will each receive a £500 prize. From the regional winners, an overall winner will be chosen, who will receive an additional £2,000. Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at the British Museum in June. Last year's overall winner was Del Elliott for his work at National Museums Wales. Regional winners included MIMA, Middlesbrough; Tullie House Museum, Carlisle; Glasgow Museums Resource Centre; ss Great Britain and the National Railway Museum, York. The application form and more information about the award is on the British Museum website at http://www.britishmuseum.org/marshaward Please do pass this message on to anyone you think might like to apply and if your volunteers are too modest, you can also apply on their behalf! If you have any questions or queries about the award, please do contact me All best wishes Susan Susan Raikes Head of Learning and Volunteers The British Museum Great Russell Street London WC1B 3DG 020 7323 8709 / 07812734587 AFGHANISTAN: CROSSROADS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD Until 3 July 2011 Open late Fridays BOOK TICKETS +44 (0)20 7323 8181 www.britishmuseum.org BECOME A MEMBER +44 (0)20 7323 8195 www.britishmuseum.org/membership Connect with the British Museum online: www.facebook.com/britishmuseum www.twitter.com/britishmuseum www.youtube.com/britishmuseum + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + GEM list: Contact the list owner for assistance at [log in to unmask] For information about joining, leaving and suspending mail (eg during a holiday) see the list website at https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=GEM + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
