Another thought is the 80s movie "Mannequin." if you are interested in possibly considering television, some examples include "Living Dolls" and "Models Inc."

That's funny... I loved the magic-realist aspects of the film, like the boy's eyes becoming more intensely blue to represent an emotional change within the protagonist.
