Same here!  EDI are meant to be producing a paper-based version of the ICT L1 and L2 sometime after Easter, so we are going to start using that.  At least the students will be able to use applications they are familiar with.

Sounds like the exact same problems, we too have had visits from one of their “Customer Support Engineers” who has not been of much help. He did say the exams change every month which is great as we are experiencing a brand new set of problems this week!

 

Thanks for the contact info we will get onto him and see what we can do. At the moment we just feel we are setting our students up to fail!

We use EDI and experience lots of problems with the ICT exams, we have even had EDI down here to see an exam in action.  The main problem that we find is the functionality within the exam environment – a lot of the commands etc are different to things like Windows, so students find it difficult to answer the questions.  We have been told the students need practice in the EDI software (which we give them), but this means you basically have to teach the students a whole new set of software that they are never going to use again, just to pass the test.  This takes away the meaning of the word ‘Functional’ really!

 

We reported all of our problems to EDI, and when we had little joy over a period of time one of our senior managers was put in contact with a man called Bernie Zachary who was quite helpful.  I’ve put his contact details below, if it’s of any help to you.

Is anyone using EDI for Functional Skills experiencing problems with the ICT exams? We are having all sorts of issues and don’t seem to be able to get any solutions from EDI.

 

Would also be interested if anyone has anything good to say about other awarding bodies for FS ICT so we can investigate the options.
