Definitions for slavery (in the East Midlands there have been recent
reports of arrests and people charged for that offence - yes seriously,
on the TV news within the last week.) include:

A person over whose
life, liberty and property someone has absolute control;
One who
labours like a slave, a drudge;
A person who is the legal property of
another or others and is bound to absolute obedience, a human chattel.

In this modern era, where personal data sets are perceived as identity
and organisationally personal data becomes viewed as property, or
organisations, in protecting and progressing their own interests
consider they have access to or ownership of a all of a persons
personal data, in addition to purchasing their labour, is that moving
towards a mental model supportive of elements of slavery?

If so the
arrests and charges should perhaps not be that surprising.

Far
fetched, or too close to the truth for comfort…
