Melanie / Steve

We are testing Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP4 and have encountered the same issue.

I did a search on Behind Blackboard today and found an article posted on Monday 18th April by Blackboard Client Support. There is a patch available.

Do a search on Announcement notification email has multiple footers in Behind Blackboard and you should find the article and links to download the patch.

Hello

We have the footer problem too. Have you had any explanation from Blackboard? We're testing 9.1 SP4.

Best wishes

Melanie

Hi

We have had to turn this feature off. Everytime a tutor sends an email from an announcement the footer about email notifications is repeated in every email approximately the same number of times as students on that module e.g. 100 students = 100 footers.

Emails to whole course cohorts would bring down our mail system

Best wishes,

Hi everyone,

This probably follows on from the discussion on this list a few weeks ago regarding the emailing of announcements in Blackboard 9.1.

Since our upgrade, we’ve been experiencing some strange behaviour with the notification system and the way it’s dealing with announcements created in courses.

Our system Notification settings are as follows:

Notification Collection: Enabled

Send email notifications as: Allow User Choice (Individual)

Our Course Notification Settings are as follows:

Dashboard: Default Off

Email: Use individual settings

Mobile: Default Off

Then, under Settings, for Announcement Available, Email is set to Default On.

These settings are the only way we have managed to get the ‘Override user notification settings’ box to appear on the Create Announcement page. However, it has been reported by some of our users that whenever they create a new announcement, everyone on their course is receiving an email, despite having not checked the override box.

When trying to replicate the issue, we cannot seem to get Blackboard to send an email notification when we have created announcements – both when checking the box and leaving it unchecked.

Does anyone have any further information about this behaviour or a potential solution?

Many thanks.
