Dear All

Quite an urgent one this.

Due to local government funding cuts, the Merseyside Archaeological Service has closed. This means no County Archaeologist or indeed an Historic Environment Record for the whole of the Merseyside conurbation.

So, no archaeological advice or curatorial control in advance of development or planning. The area includes a World Heritage Site.

Currently not sure what contingency plans exist, if any.
