Biostatisticians
Fixed term in the first instance (duration dependant on post, minimum of 3-years)

School of Cancer Sciences, Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CRCTU) http://www.cancersciences.bham.ac.uk/crctu/
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest of the National Cancer Research Institute Accredited Trials Units in the UK. The Unit is part of the School of Cancer Sciences which includes the first of Cancer Research UK's major research institutes to be promoted to national Cancer Centre status.
The CRCTU has an extensive portfolio of phase II and III clinical trials in adults covering a wide range of cancer disease sites and has one of the most active early drug development teams in the country. The unit also includes the Children's Cancer Trials Team with a large portfolio of trials across a range of paediatric tumours, with the particular methodological challenges associated with trials in rare diseases. The CRCTU also hosts a haematology trials team funded by Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research specifically supporting phase II trial development in haematology, including paediatrics, on a national level.
The CRCTU at the University of Birmingham has positions available for two Biostatisticians. These posts will mainly involve working on the paediatric and early phase haematology trials but with some opportunity to work across a broader range of cancer types within the trials portfolio. Biostatisticians play a central role in the unit, actively liaising with clinical investigators, contributing to the design and conduct of clinical trials, being responsible for interim and final analysis of clinical trial data and having a key role in the presentation and publication of results. As academic members of the University, Biostatisticians contribute to teaching at under-graduate and post-graduate level.
The CRCTU is actively involved in researching statistical methodology related to clinical trials and associated translational research and is closely affiliated with the Midland Hub for Trials Methodology Research funded by the Medical Research Council. Opportunities exist for members of the team to pursue their own research interests and carry out post-graduate qualifications.

Biostatistician starting salaries in the range: £27,428- £35,788 with potential progression to £37,990. Ref: 46797
