The original artist is dead but the work is still in copyright. We do not know who the copyright holder of the original painting is now, nor do we know who produced the print from the painting. What do your museums do in these circumstances? Does anyone have a policy on providing reproductions of items in it collection which are copyright, but for which the copyright holder is unknown or cannot be found?
