Dear colleagues

I am interested in hearing whether people are seeing their role change as staffing costs and  teaching quality  comes under the spotlight. For example are EDU’s being asked to work with staff who receive negative student feedback or who have complaints made against them because of their teaching?

Are there tensions with our values as educational developers? Would a set of principles from a body like SEDA be helpful?

David Green, who spoke at the SEDA conference last year and who now works in Seattle US shared some experiences of the impact of student evaluations on his work there. I was surprised to hear how much of his work stems from people coming to see him voluntarily and confidentially because of poor student feedback and worries about tenure. Could this be a future for UK educational developers? Was it like this in the past?

I am happy to collate responses and share around the list ( as anonymous comments).

Kind regards
