Today's hysterical media coverage? The hysteria kicked off on day one of the nuclear emergency, with talk of China Syndrome-type meltdown in reactors in which this cannot happen.

However, it would be wrong to focus on the media alone, as there are various 'stakeholders' with an interest in talking up this crisis. The political fallout from Fukushima is going to be huge, and perhaps this is the intention behind the unscientific reporting.
