The second DESIRE conference on creativity and innovation in design is being held at the Eindhoven University of technology, Netherlands on 19 to 21 September 2011, the theme of the conference is theory and practice of creative processes in design. We expect all submissions to fit within this broad theme, and our attendees come from a diversity of disciplines including HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Industrial, Graphic, and Interaction Design, as well as others. We especially invite those in industry to submit proposals and proposals that specifically include industrial participants. Creative submissions for workshops and tutorials are welcome until March 15, 2011. The intended length of the session can be either whole (7.5 hours) or half (3.5 hours) day. A workshop is a gathering of people who are interested in a particular topic that is new or developing or perhaps understudied. It offers an opportunity to collaborate and discuss current trends and present findings. This intimate gathering of people with similar research/practical interests can help push forward a common agenda for action. Often position papers are written and presented in such venues, though we encourage creative formats that accomplish the purposes of the workshop. For workshops we will look for the following criterion: - A plan for continuing the conversation past the workshop (i.e. further meetings, forums/blogs, or a special journal issue) A tutorial is an opportunity for one person or a team of people to present their ideas or facilitate a discussion or lesson on a topic on which they have some experience or expertise. A tutorial is a great venue for talking about methods, techniques, or tools as they apply to creativity, innovation, or the world of design in general. For tutorials we will look for the following criteria: - A well articulated lesson plan - Well stated desired outcomes (in terms of skills, knowledge, awareness etc.) Contextual (non-blind) reviews will be conducted by at least 2 independent reviewers. Of course we expect that at least one of the organizers should have some experience in organizations similar meetings. Organizers of the tutorials or workshops should submit the following in one PDF file with appropriate section headings and a table of contents: - Short bios of the organizers (including experience/expertise with subject matter) - The call for participation for their event. - A timeline of the event - A plan for engaging participants - Supporting materials such as curricula, references, handouts. - Clearly articulated desired outcomes of the event. - Attendee feedback from previous events organized(as applicable) We have extended the deadline until March 15 for proposals, and determined organizers who have not-yet-fully-developed ideas not yet ready for submission by the 15th should notify the co-chairs via email ASAP.
