Dear List members, We are happy to inform you that the city of Istanbul and ITU were selected to host the International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress in 2013. The announcement of selection was made by the IDA on February 24, 2011. "Istanbul, Turkey, has been unveiled by the International Design Alliance (IDA) as the host city of the 2013 IDA Congress. The city was selected unanimously by the IDA Executive Committee based on the strength of its bid, led by Istanbul Technical University (ITU) during an international competitive bid process." "The committee were impressed by the lively bid presentation and thematic proposal entitled "Design Dialects" which refers to the location of Istanbul that is not only the West and the East, but also where the North meets the South. Icsid, Icograda, IFI and ITU have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the right to host the 2013 IDA Congress. Further event details will be shared following the event agreement signing ceremony in April 2011, and as the programme is developed between the committee and ITU." The IDA serves as the collective voice for all disciplines, advocating the mutual interest of all design professions.
